Gombe PDP Aspirant Monica Yahaya Kaltho Withdraws Lawsuit, Backs Pantami for 2027 Governorship
Monica Yahaya Kaltho, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Gombe State, has withdrawn her legal challenge against the party’s gubernatorial primary.
The lawsuit, filed by several aggrieved aspirants, questioned the primary outcome in which only one candidate was presented for affirmation.
Her withdrawal was announced in a statement issued on Saturday by Hussaini Ali Muhammed, media aide to former Gombe State Governor Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.
Following the withdrawal, Kaltho declared her support for the PDP’s governorship candidate, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, and pledged to work for his victory in the 2027 election.
She explained that her decision came after consulting stakeholders and heeding an appeal from PDP leader Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, who urged her to drop the case in the interest of party unity and progress.
Kaltho described Dankwambo as a father figure and respected leader whose advice she values highly.
She emphasized that preserving PDP unity and advancing Gombe State’s development outweighed personal ambition.
The former governor urged all party members to stay united and focus on securing victory for the PDP in the 2027 governorship election.
