Fayose Hails Obi as Nigeria’s Incoming President
Businessman and social commentator Isaac Fayose welcomed Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), to his residence on Saturday. In a video shared on his Instagram page, Fayose described Obi as the country’s “incoming president” and offered prayers for his ambition.
He said the visit was significant, stating, “It’s not every day the President comes to your house. Our incoming president. So shall it be, in Jesus’ name.” Fayose also addressed critics who had challenged his earlier remarks, insisting he remains fully committed to Obi’s political cause.
“For those abusing me, you can see now I am 100 percent Obidient. You had better be Obidient too. We are together, and we are winning,” he added.
Obi Responds to Criticism and Calls for Humility
Peter Obi replied that many of the online attackers targeting Fayose may not be genuine supporters of his movement. He claimed some political actors hire people to insult opponents and then falsely attribute the abuse to his supporters.
He emphasized that he welcomes criticism and does not become angry when his actions are questioned. “My people will tell you one thing: the one thing I take is criticism. You can never be annoyed with anybody for saying I did something wrong,” Obi said.
Obi urged Fayose and other supporters to speak up whenever they believe he has acted incorrectly, stressing that admitting mistakes is essential for effective leadership.
He argued that leadership requires humility, listening, and a willingness to learn from others. “If he doesn’t, he shouldn’t lead. He should just go, because he thinks he knows everything. And if you know everything, you are an idiot. You shouldn’t be a leader. A listener, a learner, always,” Obi concluded.
