Pete Edochie Mourns Alexx Ekubo, Recalls Plans for His 80th Birthday
Veteran Nollywood legend Pete Edochie has expressed his sorrow over the death of fellow actor Alexx Ekubo. He described Ekubo as a cheerful and energetic individual whose presence left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s film industry.
Although Edochie only met Ekubo three times, each encounter stayed vivid in his memory because of the late actor’s warm and lively nature.
A Memorable Visit With a Cow and Ogene Drummers
Edochie recalled one particular occasion when Ekubo arrived at his hotel accompanied by a large cow and a troupe of Ogene drummers. The visit was meant to invite Edochie to an upcoming event.
During their conversation, Ekubo revealed that he had big plans to celebrate Edochie’s 80th birthday next year. Sadly, those plans will never come to fruition due to Ekubo’s untimely passing.
Loyalty Honored in Life and Death
The veteran actor also praised IK Ogbonna for standing by Ekubo as a loyal friend throughout his life and continuing to show that loyalty after his death.
Edochie summed up his feelings with the words: “Alexx Ekubo came, he saw, and he left an indelible impression. I met him three times. On the first occasion, he arrived at my hotel with a big cow and a group of Ogene drummers to invite me to an event. I was told he had big plans for my 80th birthday celebration next year, but unfortunately, he is gone. IK Ogbonna proved himself a true friend, both in life and in death.”
