Policy Analyst Deyemi Saka Defends Tinubu’s 2027 Nomination
Public policy analyst Deyemi Saka has downplayed concerns regarding President Bola Tinubu’s decision to list only his university qualification on the nomination papers for the 2027 presidential election.
In the documents released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Tinubu provided his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Chicago State University, earned in 1979, while the fields for primary and secondary school education were left blank.
Speaking on Arise News, Saka emphasized that the authenticity of Tinubu’s degree has been verified and that the president has satisfied every constitutional prerequisite to stand for office.
“The certificate has been questioned and confirmed to be genuine. He has fulfilled all constitutional requirements, and I believe we should shift focus to more substantive issues concerning the administration,” Saka stated.
INEC published the nomination forms for presidential and vice‑presidential candidates on Saturday, adhering to its updated timetable for the January 16, 2027 election.
Alongside his Chicago State University degree, Tinubu attached his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate. He also indicated his birth date as March 29, 1952, in Lagos, described his occupation as “Politician,” and outlined his career path, which includes roles at Mobil Nigeria Limited, as Governor of Lagos State, and currently as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
