A Nigerian woman has sparked online discussion after lamenting her purchase of a smartphone costing more than ₦1.1 million, claiming the handset is defective and has hindered her business activities.
In the viral footage, she noted that the phone was bought using savings accumulated over years, earned while she pursued content creation and entrepreneurial ventures to better her livelihood.
She remarked, “It’s not as though I simply pulled out ₦1.1 million on a whim to buy a phone; I set that money aside through careful saving.”
She explained that her aim was to enhance her work equipment to aid her content creation, mentioning she manages both professional and personal media projects. As she put it, “I only desired a better life. I only wanted to escape poverty through hard work.”
She added that she produces video content for resellers and depends on her smartphone for everyday tasks, emphasizing her work schedule by saying she labors “2, 4, 7” to highlight her dedication.
Nevertheless, she claimed the device began malfunctioning soon after she bought it, especially the camera, which she said compromised the quality of her videos.
She observed, “The camera performed poorly and the phone displayed a constant white glare; even when filming inside her shop, the screen remained washed out.”
She noted that her efforts to settle the problem with the vendor failed, alleging that the seller replied with insults, which led her to take further action.
She also mentioned filing a complaint with the police, where both sides were given a chance to speak during mediation.
Emphasizing her frustration, she insisted the phone was bought with her hard‑earned cash and that the defect has left her unable to carry out her work.
“I’m not certain I’ll just let this go,” she declared, “because my life feels on hold,” and added that the smartphone problem has disrupted both her business and her content production.
