Chief Eric Opah, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Abia State in the 2027 elections, has strongly denied allegations that he promised to facilitate the release of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, if elected.
Speaking through Mr. Eric Ikwuagwu, the Director of Media and Publicity for the Eric Opah Campaign Organisation, the aspirant unequivocally described the circulating story as false, misleading, and orchestrated by desperate political elements.
Mr. Ikwuagwu asserted that the sole intention behind the fabricated report was to tarnish Chief Opah’s reputation and embroil him in unwarranted controversy.
“Chief Eric Opah never made such a statement, whether publicly or privately,” the campaign organisation stated. “This fabrication serves as a clear indication of the escalating desperation among certain individuals and political actors who have resorted to falsehoods, propaganda, and character assassination instead of engaging in issue-based politics.”
The statement further condemned the deliberate manufacturing and circulation of fake quotes, designed to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension within the political landscape.
It emphasised that Chief Eric Opah remains a responsible and committed leader dedicated to lawful governance, fostering peace, driving development, and engaging constructively on matters vital to Abia State and the nation. The campaign affirmed that he would not be swayed by the ‘antics of mischief-makers and enemies of progress.’
The campaign organisation concluded by urging the general public, All Progressives Congress faithful, and supporters of Chief Opah to completely disregard the misleading information.
