Davido Claims He’s the Only Self‑Made Billionaire’s Child Worldwide
Afrobeat sensation Davido, son of Nigerian billionaire Deji Adeleke, has asserted that he is the only billionaire’s heir on the planet who has built a successful career and amassed wealth entirely on his own.
Reflecting on the early days of his music journey, Davido explained that his privileged background initially worked against him, as African audiences tend to favour “grass‑to‑grace” narratives.
Despite the scepticism, he persevered and forged his own legacy, insisting that no other billionaire’s child — in Africa or elsewhere — has achieved comparable recognition and financial success.
“Not to brag, but which other billionaire’s child do you know, not just in Africa but in the world, that has made a name for himself and also made a lot of money? You can’t name one apart from me.”
He also recalled a frightening episode that occurred just two months after his breakout tracks started dominating radio play. At that point, he had released only a handful of songs, yet they had already earned him widespread fame and a performance booking in Ghana.
The incident left him questioning whether the price of fame was worth the exposure it brought, highlighting the pressures that accompanied his rapid rise.
