Samuel Chukwueze to Remain at AC Milan as Ruben Amorim Ends Transfer Rumors
AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that Nigeria winger Samuel Chukwueze will stay at the club, ruling out any summer departure and stating he fits into his plans for the 2026/27 season.
Chukwueze spent the previous season on loan at Fulham, where he scored three goals and provided four assists in 26 appearances across all competitions. Fulham opted not to make the move permanent after Milan held firm on their €24 million valuation.
Despite rumors linking the 27‑year‑old to a transfer to Turkey, Amorim insisted the former Villarreal attacker remains a key part of his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Amorim was quoted saying, “Chukwu is staying with us. We need players who can play one‑on‑one, literally. Saelemaekers can operate on either flank. Cissé and Comotto will join us for preseason, but after that I really have no idea what will happen.” He added that the origin of players does not matter; if they perform well, absorb the coaching and possess the right qualities, they will find a place in the team. He emphasized looking internally first, then assessing the situation after preseason while keeping an eye on the budget. Amorim praised Chukwueze’s great qualities and the tactical flexibility he offers.
Chukwueze arrived at Milan from Villarreal in 2023 and will now get another chance to cement his place at San Siro under Amorim’s guidance.
In other Nigerian news, forward Tolu Arokodare is close to a loan move to Trabzonspor from Wolverhampton Wanderers. Turkish outlet Takagazete reports negotiations are in the final stage, with Wolves asking Trabzonspor to cover Arokodare’s full annual salary of €3.7 million before approving the deal.
Trabzonspor are seeking a new striker after Felipe Augusto’s transfer to Zenit St. Petersburg and are also bracing for a possible exit of Paul Onuachu, who has drawn interest from Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli after finishing last season as the Turkish Super Lig joint‑top scorer.
If the remaining details are settled, Arokodare is expected to travel to Turkey on Monday to complete the loan.
Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk last summer and recorded three goals and one assist in 33 Premier League appearances during his debut season at Molineux.
