Former Sokoto PDP Governorship Candidate Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma Defects to APC
Former Sokoto PDP governorship candidate and close ally of ex‑governor Aminu Tambuwal, Sa’idu Umar Ubandoma, has announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The announcement came via a statement released on Tuesday by Bashar Abubakar, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Wamakko Local Government Chairman.
Ubandoma, who previously served as Sokoto State Commissioner for Finance and later as Secretary to the State Government under Tambuwal, said he joined the APC because of the impressive achievements of Governor Ahmed Aliyu’s administration in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture and rural development. He added that Wamakko’s leadership also influenced his decision.
Wamakko welcomed Ubandoma, describing the move as a major boost for the APC and a sign of growing confidence among political leaders in the ruling party. He assured Ubandoma and his supporters of equal treatment, emphasizing that the APC remains open to all citizens committed to Sokoto’s unity, peace and development.
