Umahi Questions Obi’s $50 Million Savings Amid Hunger
The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has openly criticised former Anambra State governor Peter Obi for reportedly leaving $50 million in the state’s coffers while many Nigerians go hungry.
Umahi wondered why publically saved such as people lack basic needs.
’s funds were being hoarded instead of being used to alleviate poverty and stimulate industry.
He also cautioned supporters of the Obidient movement who attempt to discredit President Bola Tinubu’s accomplishments, vowing to confront any efforts to undermine the current administration.
In his remarks, Umahi said, “There is a committed effort by some people, building their own content creation to undermine the great work President Tinubu is doing, but we will not allow it. We sharpen our mouth, they tackle us, we tackle them, they Obidient us, we Tinubu them, we Asiwaju them, we can’t keep quiet.”
He continued, “Let them tell us what they have achieved in their place. Someone was telling me during a small debate that Peter Obi left $50 million, but I said to him, Obiano said you left this money in the bank, but look at the contractors you are owing. By the time you took the money and paid the contractors, everything was in the negative.”
Umahi then referenced a biblical parable about a rich man who entrusted money to his servants to trade and make profit, arguing that saving without investing while people suffer is not prudent.
“You can’t be saving when the people are hungry, when there is no industry,” he concluded.
