APC Governors Review Primary Outcomes Ahead of 2027 Polls
Governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) have analysed the results of the party’s recent primaries, the Ekiti governorship election and a series of by‑elections across the country.
The review took place during a meeting of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, which concluded in the early hours of Tuesday in Abuja.
Forum Chairman Highlights Key Resolutions
Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State and chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, briefed journalists after the session. He noted that the APC performed strongly in the contests examined.
Uzodimma said the forum also discussed ways to tackle challenges affecting Nigeria’s democratic space and to improve citizens’ welfare.
“We have resolved to work towards solving the problems and challenges facing our democratic space and ensuring that our people are better off,” he stated.
Preparations for 2027 Elections Underway
The governors agreed to meet with APC National Chairman Netanwe Yilwatda and other party leaders to begin planning for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Uzodimma added, “We also resolved to meet with the leadership of the party to plan the coming 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections. We are ready and good to go.”
The Progressive Governors’ Forum pledged to continue collaborating with the APC leadership to support and strengthen the party ahead of future polls.
The meeting was attended by governors from Ekiti, Zamfara, Taraba, Lagos, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Kebbi, Akwa Ibom and Borno states, among others.
Their collective focus remains on bolstering the ruling party and ensuring its policies deliver improved outcomes for Nigerians.
