Buchi’s View on Husband’s Responsibility
Relationship advisor Solomon Buchi has ignited online discussion after asserting that wives should never be responsible for paying rent, emphasizing the husband’s duty to provide shelter.
In a widely shared social media clip, Buchi explained that offering a home is a fundamental obligation of a husband, portraying men as the family’s providers and protectors.

He stated, “A woman should never have to cover rent. If a man identifies as a husband, he must ensure shelter is available. His role is to provide and protect.”
He noted that this expectation carries mutual responsibilities for both spouses.
Reciprocal Expectations in Marriage
Buchi further argued that when a husband assumes the sole financial provider role, the wife ought to take charge of traditional household duties, such as managing the home.
He added, “If you expect the man to be the exclusive breadwinner, then you should also expect the woman to be fully devoted to domestic life. You cannot demand one without the other.”
He urged couples to discuss and agree on their respective roles before marriage, rather than anticipating traditional benefits without fulfilling the associated duties.
Public Reaction
The statements have generated varied reactions online. Some users support the idea that clear role definitions strengthen marriage, while others contend that partnerships should be based on equality and teamwork.
