Sunday Igboho Pledges Support for Tinubu in 2027
Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has declared that he will back President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election. He emphasized that his support stems from gratitude for Tinubu’s role in securing his pardon and ending his exile.
Criticism of Former Commissioner Rauf Aregbesola
Igboho contrasted his loyalty with what he described as the ingratitude of Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He recalled that Tinubu appointed Aregbesola as a commissioner, later removed Governor Oyinlola, and eventually made Aregbesola a federal minister.
“I will continue to appreciate and support the government of Bola Tinubu for forgiving me and restoring me from a lonely exile. I will support him for eight years because I am not an ingrate like his former commissioner called Aregbesola,” Igboho stated.
Optimism for an Eight‑Year Tinubu Presidency
The activist expressed confidence that Tinubu will serve two full terms, drawing parallels with past leaders.
“May we never be ingrates in our lives. Obasanjo spent eight years, Buhari spent eight years, even Jonathan served about six years. Tinubu will complete his eight years by God’s grace; nothing will stop him,” he added.
Warning to Yoruba Collaborators with Fulani Kidnappers
Igboho also issued a stern warning to any Yoruba individual found aiding Fulani groups in kidnapping operations across the Southwest.
He said, “There are some Yorubas collaborating with Fulani groups in the kidnapping of our people and aiding them. I will kill any Yoruba person supporting and conniving with Fulani to kidnap in our lands; the judgement for such a person is death.”
“Anybody that hails from Igboho and is supporting Fulani groups to kidnap people will not end well,” he concluded.
Source of the Statement
According to Daily Post, Igboho made these remarks at the palace of the Chief of Igboho in the Oorelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
