Wike Issues 48‑Hour Resignation Challenge Over FCT Road Claims
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, said he will step down if anyone can show that his administration did not award 317 kilometres of roads in the satellite towns or complete 221 kilometres of those works.
Speaking to journalists, Wike invited critics to appear on national television within the next two days and present evidence that the reported road projects are non‑existent.
He highlighted specific routes, noting that the Apo‑Karishi and Bwari‑Kubwa roads are set to be finished before the year ends, and insisted that residents have already felt the impact of the construction.
“If anybody has a contrary view, let them come forward and challenge us on live TV,” Wike declared. “I will resign as FCT Minister if they prove that we have not awarded 317 km of roads or completed 221 km.”
The minister’s statement adds to the ongoing debate over transparency in infrastructure spending in the FCT.
