Ned Nwoko Accuses APC of Betrayal Over Promised Automatic Ticket
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) betrayed him by failing to deliver the automatic ticket he was promised before his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Speaking on ARISE Television’s “Prime Time” programme, Nwoko said the APC had assured him of an uncontested nomination for the 2027 general elections, a key factor in his decision to join the party.
He expressed shock at the outcome of the May 18 primary, insisting that former APC chairman Abdullahi Ganduje had repeatedly guaranteed him the ticket.
“I certainly was told before I came into the party there would be an automatic ticket for me. Why would I just leave like that without making sure I have a secure ride?”
Nwoko added that discussions about a new party structure and a power‑sharing formula were also part of the assurances given to him and other defectors.
He further alleged that the May 18 election was rigged in favour of Ifeanyi Okowa, claiming to possess evidence — including video footage — that shows he won in 98 of the wards.
“We won the primary in 98 wards. All Okowa could show was a problem in one ward. I have the proof; you cannot make an innocent man say he is guilty,” Nwoko stated.
