A Nigerian woman has become an online sensation after describing a frightening incident she says caused her to break up with an alleged internet fraudster, commonly referred to as a Yahoo boy.
In a viral video posted on social platforms, she explained how she allegedly ended up concealed in a graveyard late at night after hearing that EFCC agents were conducting raids nearby.
Lady Recalls Midnight Panic
She said she had gone to see her boyfriend at his dorm when a friend knocked urgently, warning that EFCC officers were detaining suspected Yahoo boys in the vicinity.
“Imagine you are asleep and suddenly you hear loud bangs on the door, with a voice shouting, ‘Open up! Open up!’ coming from her partner’s friend.”
The friend added that he had gotten a call from a nearby hotel indicating that EFCC was in the area arresting individuals known as G‑guys, urging them to flee immediately before the agents reached their location.
The woman stated that her boyfriend roused her from sleep and insisted they leave straight away, not even giving her a chance to grab her phone.
“He didn’t let me pick up my phone. I asked, ‘What if my parents try to call me if something goes wrong?’ but I was unable to reach for it.”
“I Found Myself Inside a Cemetery”
She described how they escaped by climbing over a high fence into an adjacent property.
However, she was stunned to realize they had entered a burial ground.
“I felt uneasy about what I was seeing. I asked him, ‘Where are we, please?’ and he told us we were inside a cemetery. A Muslim cemetery, he added.”
She continued, “That’s when I began to sob uncontrollably in the middle of the night. It wasn’t the EFCC that frightened me; it was the realization that I was surrounded by graves at around 2 a.m. Even my mother knows I cannot stand near dead bodies.”
Lady Says the Incident Ended the Relationship
Afterward, they hid beneath a tree in the graveyard, moving from place to place when they noticed a vigilante patrol.
She claimed they trekked from Offa to Ajase in Kwara State before dawn, after which she caught a bus back to Ibadan.
Although her boyfriend later apologized for the ordeal, she said the trauma lingered and ultimately led to their breakup.
“I couldn’t sleep when I got home because of the shock. He kept apologizing and asking for forgiveness, but that experience is what caused us to split.”
Her narrative has generated considerable discussion online, with many users expressing varied opinions about her story.
