A woman ignited online chatter after describing how her acquaintance responded to the ₦15,000 she transferred upon hearing the person was hungry and without options.
She explained that the acquaintance said she had nowhere else to turn for assistance.
Even though she lacked naira at that moment, she opted to send the fifteen thousand naira so the friend could purchase at least a meal.
Unexpectedly, the recipient questioned the sum received rather than showing gratitude.
This reaction left the sender feeling let down and uncertain about requesting the money back.
Friend’s reply disappoints the sender
She narrated, “I sent this money to a friend who complained of being hungry and stranded. She said she had nowhere to go, so I told her, I don’t have cash right now, but keep this to at least buy something to eat.”
She continued, “Her reply was, ‘Is this only fifteen thousand you sent? Omo, send the fifteen thousand back. When I get more, I’ll send you enough. What do you all think?’”
Online reactions vary
The story has sparked diverse opinions across social platforms. Some commentators argued that any help, regardless of size, deserves appreciation, while others speculated there may have been a miscommunication regarding the sender’s intent or the recipient’s expectations.
