Lady Criticizes Men Who Offer Romance But Withhold Financial Support
A Nigerian woman has ignited online discussion after highlighting how some men are quick to flirt when a woman shares her feelings, yet disappear when she mentions money troubles.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), she pointed out the double standard, questioning why men are eager to meet emotional or sexual needs but hesitate to provide financial assistance.
She said, “There is something men do these days that really annoys me. I say the weather is freezing and they reply, ‘Weather for two, I wish I was there to warm you.’ When I admit I’m feeling emotional or aroused, they answer, ‘I wish I was there.’”
She noted that the reaction shifts dramatically when the topic turns to finances, with men often responding with sympathy rather than tangible help.
She asked why financial struggles are treated differently from emotional talks, insisting that if men feel entitled to respond to one, they should show the same vigor when a woman needs practical support.
“Then I tell you I’m short on cash and have a lot on my plate, and they say, ‘Oh dear, so sorry. I hope things improve.’ Why does my money problem end with ‘sorry,’ but my emotional concerns end with, ‘I wish I was there’? What exactly do you wish you were doing here?” she added.
Her comments have generated mixed reactions online, with social media users debating relationship expectations and financial responsibilities.
