Governor Kefas Urges APC Winners to Show Humility and Embrace Rivals in Taraba
Governor Agbu Kefas has appealed to All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates who secured the party’s ticket to demonstrate humility and reach out to those who were unsuccessful in the primaries.
He described the gathering as a “family meeting” intended to heal divisions, rebuild trust, and strengthen the party ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
The governor urged members to set aside any grievances stemming from the ward, local government, and state congresses as well as the primary elections, and to work collectively for the benefit of Taraba State.
Kefas acknowledged that his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, together with the subsequent party processes, generated mixed feelings among members — some satisfied with the outcome, others feeling disappointed or excluded.
He expressed sincere regret for any pain or misunderstanding that may have arisen, emphasizing that his decisions were never meant to suppress legitimate political ambitions or diminish stakeholders’ contributions.
The leader stressed that the decisions taken during the political process aimed to prevent prolonged internal conflicts that could weaken the party and divide the people of Taraba.
Kefas emphasized that reconciliation must take precedence over political differences, noting that party contests should not create permanent enemies or destroy long‑standing relationships.
He reminded successful aspirants that no candidate can win alone, urging them to carry every stakeholder along regardless of the primary results.
The governor also appealed to those who did not emerge victorious to remain committed to the APC, assuring them that political opportunities extend beyond a single election cycle.
