Gospel Singer Gozie Okeke Opens Up About Troubled Marriage to Njideka Okeke
Gospel artist Prince Gozie Okeke has spoken candidly about his marriage to former music partner and ex‑wife, Princess Njideka Okeke. In an interview with BBC Igbo, he explained how the relationship began, why it flourished musically, and what ultimately led to its breakdown.
He said he met Njideka through a pastor after expressing a desire to marry a tall, fair‑skinned woman. The couple went on to have three children and became one of Nigeria’s most beloved gospel duos.
Their hit song “Akanchawa” brought them nationwide fame and earned them a large fan base across the country.
Marriage Faced Problems From the Start
Despite their musical success, Gozie revealed that their marriage encountered serious problems right from the early stage. While he chose not to disclose every detail, he affirmed that the difficulties were real and deeply affected their relationship.
He stressed that only he and Njideka know the full story behind their separation, and he appealed to the public to stop spreading unverified rumors and assumptions about the end of their marriage.
A Lengthy and Difficult Divorce Process
The gospel singer disclosed that the divorce proceedings lasted more than six months, describing it as a challenging period for both parties.
He concluded with a reflective statement: “I wanted a tall, fair woman. Our marriage had problems from the beginning. Only Njideka and I know the full reasons for our separation. People should stop spreading unverified stories and assumptions. Our divorce process lasted more than six months. I started my music career at the age of 35, and I am now focused on living peacefully, taking care of myself and moving forward with gratitude.”
