Dino Melaye Forecasts Nigeria’s Political Renewal Ahead of 2027 Polls
Former federal lawmaker Senator Dino Melaye has voiced optimism that Nigeria will emerge stronger from the current administration, predicting a political rebirth in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking as a prominent member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Melaye described the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under President Bola Tinubu as maladministrative, yet expressed confidence that the nation will survive this period.
He urged Nigerians to rally behind the vision of a “new Nigeria,” emphasizing that the upcoming elections offer a pivotal moment to change the country’s trajectory.
Melaye’s statement reads: “Nigeria will survive APC. A new Nigeria is coming. Join the New Nigeria train.” His remarks come amid growing criticism from opposition figures concerning the economy, security, and governance as the 2027 polls approach.
The senator, who previously represented Kogi West in the National Assembly, remains a staunch supporter of former Vice‑President Atiku Abubakar, who is seen as a leading presidential aspirant within the ADC ahead of the next election.
While some former coalition allies have pursued separate paths, Melaye and Atiku continue to advocate for a fresh political direction in 2027. In contrast, the APC maintains its confidence in retaining power.
