Brymo Advocates for Igbo Presidency to Foster National Unity
Nigerian singer Brymo has called on the country to begin contemplating an Igbo president, arguing that such a move would promote unity and a fresh political direction.
He stressed that Nigeria must move beyond historical divisions and give fair consideration to leaders from the South‑East.
Brymo also highlighted that national healing should be woven into the political process going forward.
Concerns Over Insecurity in the South‑East
At the same time, the artist warned that rising insecurity in the South‑East could hinder political progress, noting that some groups exploit unrest to gain political advantage.
“I think it is high time for Igbo presidency. It is time for Nigeria to start considering Igbo presidency. Let’s let go of the past and reconcile our differences and unite as a nation.”

He added, “But how will we get there if the South‑East is also slowly descending into chaos? Anytime any group in Nigeria wants the presidency, they will start militancy. That is what is happening. If you want the presidency, start kidnapping and insecurity.”
Brymo praised President Bola Tinubu for halting the Amotekun initiative, questioning what would happen if multiple regional security outfits operated simultaneously alongside groups like Boko Haram and South‑South militants.
