APC First-Term Governors Condemn Attacks on Nigerians in South Africa
Eighteen governors elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform have issued a joint communiqué condemning the recent attacks targeting Nigerians living in South Africa.
The statement was presented by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris, who hosted the meeting of the first‑term executives.
The governors acknowledged the hardships Nigerians are experiencing due to the economic reforms introduced by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Nevertheless, they appealed to the populace to stand behind the reforms, emphasizing that the sacrifices made by citizens have not gone unnoticed.
“We are aware that every Nigerian is feeling the heat of economic reforms being undertaken by the Tinubu‑led government, but we won’t abandon the reforms before they come to fruition. We appeal to Nigerians to support the reforms.”

In addition to the South Africa issue, the governors condemned the rising wave of attacks and abductions targeting schoolchildren across the country.
They urged security agencies to take swift and decisive action against all forms of violence, reiterating that every Nigerian deserves protection.
Governor Idris also noted that first‑term governors seeking re‑election will showcase their tangible achievements in sectors such as agriculture, health, security, and education when they engage with constituents.
“As first‑term governors, we need the support of people at all levels as we go to them to seek their cooperation and support; we will show them what we did in agriculture, health, security and education,” he said.
The gathering concluded with a reaffirmation of the governors’ continued backing for the Tinubu‑led Federal Government.
