Closed-Door Meeting of APC First-Term Governors in Kebbi
Eighteen governors elected on the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform convened behind closed doors on Tuesday at the Kebbi State Government House. The gathering was hosted by Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris and brought together APC leaders from various regions across the country.
The specific agenda of the meeting has not been made public. Journalists stationed at the Government House waited for a briefing from the governors once the session concluded.
Attending governors represented states such as Sokoto, Kaduna, Jigawa, Plateau, Delta, Ekiti, Taraba, Ondo, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom, Edo, Benue, Kogi and Enugu, among others. Notably, the governors of Cross River, Niger and Katsina were absent, having sent apologies for their non‑attendance.
APC Defends Controversial Candidate Substitutions
In a separate development, the APC has defended its recent decision to substitute certain candidates after its primaries. Party spokesperson Morka, speaking on Arise TV, rejected claims that the replacements were arbitrary or that tickets were given to individuals who did not participate in the primary elections.
Morka asserted that the substitutions were carried out in strict accordance with the party’s constitution and established guidelines, following a legitimate internal appeal process.
