APC Chieftain Defends Tinubu’s Academic Credentials, Cites Bill Gates Example
A senior member of the All Progressives Congress, Alwan Hassan, says the opposition has no legitimate basis for questioning President Bola Tinubu’s educational qualifications.
He notes that the Nigerian constitution only requires a school certificate or its equivalent for presidential candidates, and that the equivalent can be as basic as the ability to read and write.
Hassan further argues that formal education does not determine leadership ability, pointing out that Bill Gates left Harvard without a degree yet became one of the world’s wealthiest individuals.
In his view, President Tinubu has achieved more in under four years than many previous Nigerian leaders, including former President Goodluck Jonathan and those now challenging his credentials.
The claim that Tinubu’s university certificate is fake is unfounded, Hassan insists, because Chicago State University has never declared the document fraudulent.
“What the constitution says is that a school certificate or its equivalent, and the equivalent of a school certificate is the ability to read and write. One of the richest men in the world dropped out of Harvard – Bill Gates. It’s not about education. These guys (the opposition) don’t have anything to hold this man (President Tinubu),” Hassan stated.
