Governor Oyebanji Assures Ekiti Voters No One Will Be Disenfranchised
Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the ongoing governorship election, noting that voter turnout has been encouraging across many communities.
Reports from various parts of the state indicate that the election is progressing smoothly, with many residents heeding the call to participate in the voting process.
Technical Challenges Addressed
Although some polling units experienced technical problems during the accreditation process, the governor urged residents not to panic.
In certain areas, electronic voter verification devices struggled to capture details, causing delays early in the voting exercise.
Responding to the situation, Oyebanji appealed for calm and patience, assuring every eligible voter that they would be allowed to cast a ballot despite the machine hiccups.
He said the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has guaranteed that the faults affecting the verification machines will be fixed swiftly so voting can continue without major disruption.
Those already waiting in line at polling centres will be permitted to vote once the issues are resolved, the governor added.
Positive Turnout and Call for Continued Participation
Oyebanji also expressed delight at the turnout recorded so far, stating that many residents have answered the call to take part in the democratic process.
He described the willingness of voters to come out and exercise their civic responsibility as a positive development for Ekiti State.
“The report is positive and voting is going on smoothly. The turnout is also very impressive. I am happy that people heeded my call for them to come out en masse to cast their votes,” he said.
“I want to appeal to our people to be patient, because everyone will vote. I have received assurances from INEC that all those who came out will be allowed to vote,” the governor concluded.
