A member of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) from Eruku, Kwara State, recently shared his harrowing experience. He detailed the terrifying conditions he and other hostages endured. Bandits held them in a remote forest.
The president had previously announced their freedom. All abducted worshipers were liberated on Sunday.

Survivor Details His Ordeal
The abductors made it clear escape was impossible. They asserted complete control of the territory.
“It was unimaginable,” he stated. “We understood it was a dominated area.” He added, “They told us we were bandits, explaining no one could slip away.” He concluded, “Nobody could escape given what we saw. They knew all routes within those bushes around Kwara and other cities.”
Captors’ Control and Surveillance
He described the forest as a highly monitored environment. The terrorists openly boasted about their mastery of the terrain. They claimed ability to track any movement in the surrounding bushes. Captives were under constant watch. This left them in deep fear and helplessness throughout their detention.
A total of 38 worshippers were abducted from the Eruku CAC. The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 18. Their release came on Sunday, November 23, 2025. This happened amidst Nigeria’s escalating kidnapping crisis.
