Peter Obi and Kwankwaso Meet Senator Seriake Dickson Amid OK Movement Leadership Crisis
The presidential and vice‑presidential candidates of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, held a meeting with the party’s National Leader, Senator Seriake Dickson, in Abuja as the OK Movement faces internal leadership challenges.
The OK Movement, a coalition of the Kwankwassiyya and Obidient groups, has been plagued by rival factions, raising concerns among supporters of the Obi‑Kwankwaso ticket about the coalition’s strength heading into the 2027 polls.
Although the exact nature of the disagreement has not been made public, the rift has sparked reactions across the movement.
Senator Dickson confirmed the gathering on his official Facebook page, noting that he hosted Obi and Kwankwaso at his residence in Abuja.
He said the discussion centred on the party’s current state and preparations for the upcoming campaign phase, which is expected to begin later this month.
Dickson urged members, supporters and stakeholders to stay united, stressing that solidarity and commitment are essential for electoral success.
“I call on all members, supporters and stakeholders of our great party to unite, remain steadfast and work together for victory for all candidates of our party,” he added.
INEC Confusion Over Edo South Senatorial Candidate
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has caused confusion by mismatching a photo and name for the NDC’s candidate in the Edo South senatorial district for the 2027 general election.
Former Senate Chief Whip Rowland Owie expressed dissatisfaction, claiming that Aguebor emerged as the party’s candidate in an INEC‑monitored primary election and alleging that a national NDC officer may be responsible for the error.
Owie labelled the development a fraud that will not stand, reiterating that Aguebor remains the legitimate Edo South senatorial candidate.
