Nigerian media personality Tunde Perry has revealed the moment that caused him to lose respect for singer May D, despite once being a devoted fan.
The Incident at Fela Shrine
During a TikTok Live session, Perry recalled attending a May D concert at the Fela Shrine in 2012, when the artist was at the height of his fame.

While performing a hit collaboration with P-Square, May D tossed a gold‑coloured chain into the audience.
Perry said he was the fortunate fan who caught the chain and instantly believed he had become wealthy.
The Moment of Realisation
Speaking in Yoruba, he explained:
“May D used to be one artist I loved so much. The very day I started disliking him was when I went to the Fela Shrine to watch him perform in 2012. He flung his gold chain into the crowd and I caught it. Knowing the hardships I had endured, I felt rich at that instant.”
He added that he could not sleep that night, worrying someone might take the chain.

The following day, his excitement faded after he took the item to a local dealer (aboki) to sell.
“I hurried to meet an aboki to sell it. The dealer told me he could not offer even ₦200 for the chain because it was merely condemned iron,” Perry recalled.
The story has generated mixed reactions online; many users found it amusing, while others doubted its authenticity.
