ADC Rejects Pro‑Tinubu Aspirant’s Ticket in Kano
Naja’atu Mohammed, Deputy National Chairman (North West) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), said the party will not hand its governorship ticket to Ibrahim Khalil, an aspirant in Kano State, because of his alleged support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
She explained that the party cannot award the ticket to someone whose loyalty to its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, is doubtful.
Mohammed noted that Khalil’s public declarations of allegiance to Tinubu are well known, adding that no fair‑minded Northerner would want to associate with a candidate seen as loyal to the current administration, given the hardship, pain and anguish the region has endured.
She lamented that hunger and insecurity have spread across the North over the past four years, leaving many women to witness the killing of their husbands.
Mohammed clarified that she is not the sole decision‑maker; she is merely a member of the seven‑member consensus committee chaired by Ben Obi that reached the decision.
The Deputy National Chairman also inaugurated a new ADC Caretaker Committee for Kano State, led by Umar Bala as Caretaker Chairman, Ismail Musa Ibrahim as Secretary, Lawal Adamu Giginyu as Publicity Secretary, and Barrister Mohammed Lawal Adamu as Legal Adviser.
When approached for comment, Ibrahim Khalil declined to respond, saying, “I will not reply to her.”
