Kalu Declares Tinubu Unchallenged in 2027
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North, has stated that President Bola Tinubu faces no significant competitor in the forthcoming 2027 presidential election. According to Kalu, the opposition parties remain divided and lack the organisational capacity to pose a serious threat to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Opposition Described as “In Tatters”
The former Abia State governor elaborated that the opposition is still grappling with internal crises and has yet to put its house in order. He warned that without resolving these divisions, the opposition will continue to be ineffective in challenging APC’s dominance.
Defence of Tinubu’s Economic Policies
Kalu praised President Tinubu as a decisive leader unafraid of making tough choices for the nation’s benefit. He acknowledged that while the administration’s economic reforms have not yet delivered all desired outcomes, progress is evident, particularly at the macro level, even as micro‑economic challenges persist.
Legislative Record and APC Unity in Abia
On his role as senator, Kalu asserted that no other senatorial district has attracted more federal projects than Abia North under his representation. He cited road rehabilitations, school reconstructions, and the distribution of uniforms and textbooks as tangible achievements.
Expressing confidence in his return to the Senate, Kalu emphasized the APC’s firm foothold in Abia State and predicted a Tinubu victory there in 2027. He urged APC leaders in the state to manage party affairs with maturity, justice, and fairness to avert factionalism.
Calls for Party Unity and Support for Tinubu
Former APC governorship aspirant Mascot Uzor Kalu echoed the sentiment, noting that he withdrew from the recent primary to promote unity. He appealed to party members to close ranks, back Tinubu’s re‑election, and vote for all APC candidates in the upcoming general election.
Other stakeholders, including George Nnanna Kalu and Uche Ogboso, commended Senator Kalu’s quality representation and pledged their support for his continued service in the Senate.
