Minister Matawalle Says ADC Court Ruling Vindicates President Tinubu
The Minister of State for Defence, Mohammed Matawalle, declared that a recent Abuja High Court judgment upholding the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) under former Senate President David Mark has vindicated President Bola Tinubu.
According to Matawalle, the ruling disproves claims that Tinubu is meddling with the judiciary or seeking to establish a one‑party state.
He emphasized that Tinubu’s decision to respect the court’s decision demonstrates his dedication to democratic principles and judicial independence.
The minister noted that, despite continual criticism from opposition figures, the president has never attempted to interfere in judicial proceedings or influence politically sensitive cases.
Matawalle added that Tinubu’s democratic credentials were forged long before he assumed office, rooted in his active role in Nigeria’s struggle for democratic restoration.
He argued that the president recognises the vital importance of preserving democratic institutions, viewing an independent judiciary as essential for democratic survival, political stability, and national cohesion.
Matawalle accused certain opposition politicians of spreading falsehoods and propaganda to discredit the president whenever court rulings do not align with their interests.
He urged Nigerians to evaluate judicial outcomes objectively and to acknowledge the president’s efforts in strengthening democratic institutions.
