Napoli Appoints Massimiliano Allegri as New Manager on Three-Year Deal
Napoli have confirmed the appointment of Massimiliano Allegri as their new first-team head coach, signing him to a three-year contract.
Allegri’s Coaching Background
The experienced Italian tactician previously led Juventus from 2014 to 2019 and returned for a second spell between 2021 and 2024. He also coached AC Milan during two separate periods, most recently in the 2025/26 season before the club missed out on Champions League qualification.
Replacing Antonio Conte
Allegri steps in after Antonio Conte, who guided Napoli to the Serie A title in the 2024/25 season. Conte has since been linked with a possible role as head coach of the Italy national team, a position he held from 2014 to 2016, leading the Azzurri to the Euro 2016 quarter‑finals.
Wider Coaching Shake‑Up in Serie A
The change at Napoli is part of a broader trend in Italy’s top flight, with nine of the 20 Serie A clubs appointing new coaches since the end of the season. Among them are AC Milan, who hired Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim; Atalanta, which brought in Maurizio Sarri; and Fiorentina, which selected Fabio Grosso.
