Nollywood veterans Segun Arinze and Jerry Amilo have spoken out after a clip of actor Hanks Anuku began circulating widely on social media. In the footage, Anuku appears to be speaking to himself while holding a disposable cup, prompting a wave of concern about his wellbeing.
Many viewers expressed worry, with some speculating that he might have been under the influence of alcohol. The video quickly gained traction, leading to a flurry of comments and shares across various platforms.
Responding to the growing discussion, Segun Arinze took to his social media account to clarify that the clip is not recent. He wrote:
“This is a very old video oo.”
Jerry Amilo echoed the same sentiment, urging the public to cease sharing what he described as harmful and misleading content about his colleague.
“PLEASE THIS IS AN OLD VIDEO. STOP SPREADING EVIL NEWS AND WISHES.”
The actors’ statements come after Anuku himself opened up in November 2023 about his battles with depression, linking his drinking habits to personal struggles at that time. He also alleged that certain colleagues had attempted to blackmail him out of jealousy.
