Action Alliance Condemns Attack on Presidential Candidate
The Zamfara State chapter of the Action Alliance (AA) has condemned the attack on its 2027 presidential candidate, Adekunle Rufai Omoaje, describing the incident as an assault on democracy.
According to the party’s statement, the attack took place on Saturday during a burial ceremony at Ekusa in the Odo Otin Local Government Area of Osun State.
AA chairman Waziri labelled the incident as an attempt to intimidate opposition political parties and undermine democratic principles, calling it a cowardly act that directly threatens democracy.
He urged security agencies to investigate the attack thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
Waziri assured that Omoaje and his supporters would not be discouraged, reiterating their commitment to justice, peaceful coexistence and national development.
He also called on party members and supporters to remain calm, law-abiding and peaceful while allowing the authorities to carry out their investigations.
The chairman stressed the need for adequate protection of political actors and citizens, emphasizing that safety and security are essential to the country’s democratic process.
He concluded that democratic participation can only thrive when citizens and political leaders are able to move freely and engage in public activities without fear of intimidation or violence.
