Tobi Amusan Matches Season Best to Claim Victory at Paris Diamond League 2026
Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan announced her return to peak form with a commanding win in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Paris Diamond League on Sunday, June 29, 2026. She crossed the finish line in 12.28 seconds, matching her season’s best time.
Amusan finished well ahead of the American duo Grace Stark, who clocked 12.38 seconds, and Alaysha Johnson, who followed in 12.39 seconds. Her performance at Stade Charléty was both technically sound and emotionally composed.
The winning time equals the 12.28 seconds she recorded earlier this season at the Xiamen and Rabat Diamond League meetings, marking the third occasion she has hit that mark in 2026. Despite a challenging heatwave that pushed track temperatures to 32 °C, Amusan delivered a smooth, controlled race.
After a slower start from Dutch hurdler Nadine Visser, Amusan exploded from the blocks, executed a flawless technical run over the barriers, and established a clear lead by the halfway point. She maintained her advantage to the tape, cruising to victory.
This triumph is Amusan’s second Diamond League success of the season, following her win in Rabat. She also claimed victory at the New Taipei City Athletics Open earlier in June, building momentum toward the Diamond League Final later this year. Having secured three consecutive Diamond League titles from 2021 to 2023, the 28‑year‑old is now firmly positioned to reclaim the crown.
