David Fizdale Begins Tenure with D’Tigers at FIBA Qualifiers
Nigeria’s senior men’s basketball squad, known as the D’Tigers, will travel to Angola for the third window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers. The tournament runs from July 2 to July 5 in Luanda and marks the first competitive assignment for newly appointed head coach David Fizdale.
The Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) announced the 12‑player roster ahead of the trip, blending seasoned internationals with promising young talent. The selected athletes are:

Drawn into Group C, Nigeria will face Guinea, Rwanda and Tunisia. Each game is pivotal in the quest to secure a berth at the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

NBBF President Ahmadu Musa Kida welcomed Fizdale to his first official tournament in charge of the national side, stating:
