Nigerian singer Oludemilade Martin Alejo, popularly known as Ycee, has explained why he stayed away from music for several years.
He said the hiatus allowed him to focus on personal growth and self‑discovery.

He remarked, “I have been on the mountain. I went on a journey of self‑discovery. But I am back.”
Ycee also talked about his stage name “Omo Alhaji,” explaining that it stems from his father’s Muslim background, although he does not practice the faith himself.
He added that his personal philosophy centers on love as a guiding principle in life.
Before his break, Ycee was widely recognized for hits such as “Jagaban,” “Juice,” and “Omo Alhaji,” which boosted his popularity across Nigeria.
