Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has called on FCT residents to rally behind him and President Bola Tinubu.
He made the appeal on Monday while addressing traders and residents at the Kado Fish Market during an inspection of the Deidei to Life Camp Road. Wike pledged to reciprocate the gesture if the residents comply.
The minister emphasised that any agreement must be respected. “If you do for me, I do for you,” he said. He specifically promised to install streetlights in the area if the residents fulfil their part of the agreement.
Wike told the crowd: “This part of life is agreement, isn’t it? If you do for me, I do for you, no be so? Now that the president has fulfilled his own promise, you must fulfil your own promise, isn’t it so? Don’t worry, we will install streetlights here.”
In a related development, President Bola Tinubu has referred to Wike as ‘landlord’. This happened on Sunday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport when Wike and other officials received Tinubu returning from Lagos. In a video, President Tinubu could be heard telling the former Rivers State Governor, “Landlord, you are back?”
It will be recalled that Wike had been in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, overseeing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections to ensure his loyalists secured victories.
