US Congressman Commends Nigeria’s State Police Bill
Rep. Riley Moore of the United States Congress praised the recent passage of the State Police Bill by Nigeria’s House of Representatives, noting that 289 lawmakers voted in favour while four opposed the measure.
In a post on his X account, Moore said the legislation allowing states to create their own police forces is a vital step toward ending the persecution of Christians and reducing nationwide instability.
He expressed gratitude for the development, stating that he has advocated for such a policy since former President Donald Trump tasked him with investigating alleged genocide against Christians in Nigeria.
Moore revealed that he first raised the idea with Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, during her Washington visit and has continued to discuss it with every Nigerian delegation he meets.
“President Tinubu deserves credit for backing this legislation and urging its passage through parliament,” Moore added, expressing hope that the president will keep pressing the issue forward.
