Tobi Amusan Qualifies for 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final
Nigeria’s sprint hurdles star Tobi Amusan has booked her place in the 2026 Wanda Diamond League Final following a consistent performance in the women’s 100m hurdles circuit. The world‑record holder accumulated 28 points from five Diamond League meetings, enough to guarantee a spot in the season‑ending showdown.
The final will be staged in Brussels, Belgium, on September 4 and 5. Amusan currently sits second in the overall standings, four points behind American rival Masai Russell, who leads with 32 points.
Both athletes are expected to contest the remaining Diamond League stops in London, Lausanne, Silesia and Zurich before the Brussels showdown. Russell remains the season’s fastest hurdler with a personal best of 12.14 seconds, while Amusan’s season‑best of 12.28 seconds has been matched three times during the campaign.
The Brussels final promises to renew one of the sport’s most compelling rivalries. Amusan is aiming to reclaim the Diamond League title she won consecutively from 2021 to 2023. A victory would earn her a fourth Diamond League trophy and further cement her legacy in the event.
Amusan enters the final still holding the women’s 100m hurdles world record of 12.12 seconds, set during her gold‑winning run at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene. That mark remains the benchmark for the discipline.
