Taraba Deputy Governor’s Son Denies Neglect Allegations
Ibrahim Alkali, the son of Taraba State’s ailing Deputy Governor Aminu Alkali, has rejected claims that Governor Agbu Kefas has neglected his father during his prolonged illness.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Ibrahim praised the governor for the love and steadfast support shown since the deputy governor fell ill nearly two years ago.
Governor Kefas Cited for Medical and Financial Assistance
Ibrahim explained that his father received initial treatment in Nigeria before being flown to Egypt for further care. After returning, treatment continued in Jalingo and routine check‑ups are now conducted in Abuja, where notable improvement has been observed.
He added that Governor Kefas not only ensured the settlement of all medical bills but also made regular personal visits to monitor the deputy governor’s recovery.
Officials Confirm Continued Entitlements
Alhaji Usman Madu, Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor, confirmed that all statutory entitlements due to the deputy governor have been paid promptly despite his health condition.
Madu noted that the governor swiftly approved every request related to the deputy governor’s medical care, describing him as responsive and supportive throughout the period of Alkali’s illness.
Ibrahim urged politicians to avoid exploiting his father’s health for political gain, insisting that the support from Governor Kefas has been exceptional and deserving of recognition.
