Peter Obi Defends His Habit of Leaving Political Parties
Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has addressed accusations that he frequently abandons political parties when pressure mounts.
During the interview, the host questioned claims that Obi often avoids confrontation, citing his departures from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and the Labour Party.
Obi conceded that the perception is accurate, stating that when a person senses danger or instability, stepping away can prevent larger troubles.
The former Anambra Governor added that the current political climate is especially harsh on opposition figures, and that his earlier exits should be viewed as early warnings of looming challenges rather than signs of weakness.
He said: “People say I always chicken out. They’re correct. When people put fire in your house, you don’t stay. You know what the government of today is doing to opposition, those parties should actually thank me for anticipating the problem and walking away from it.”
In related news, Obi also declared his readiness to sacrifice his life for the nation, insisting that a single leader must take charge of tackling Nigeria’s security crises.
