Otubanjo Warns Tinubu: Wike’s Influence in Rivers APC Primary Poses Political Danger
The director of research at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Femi Otubanjo, has described the ongoing political crisis surrounding Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara as one of the most startling developments in Nigeria’s contemporary politics.
Otubanjo criticised the involvement of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, who is not a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in shaping the party’s primary process in Rivers State.
The treatment of Fubara must be one of the American wonders of Nigerian politics. Fubara has been badly treated. We have a situation in which Nyesom Wike, who is not even in the APC, is taking the primary decision in the APC. I hope the tactical team of President Bola Tinubu is not sleeping.

He warned that what has unfolded in Rivers State is dangerous for President Tinubu, arguing that Wike is pursuing his own agenda rather than that of the president.
Otubanjo insisted that if Wike truly wants to advance Tinubu’s agenda, he must ensure that Fubara remains in office.
