Ogun ADC Denies Ogundipe as Governorship Candidate, Reaffirms Support for Hon. Jimi Lawal
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ogun State has refuted reports that Dr Biodun Collins Ogundipe has been chosen as the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election. Speaking at a press briefing in Abeokuta, party Secretary Olusoji Agbebiyi stated that the state leadership was unaware of any process that produced Ogundipe as the ADC’s flagbearer.
Agbebiyi alleged that Ogundipe is being sponsored by unnamed individuals aiming to destabilise the party and weaken its preparations for the upcoming general election. He warned the public not to be misled by such claims.
“We did not pick Ogundipe as our governorship candidate. He is only parading himself as the governorship candidate,” Agbebiyi said. He emphasised that Hon. Jimi Lawal remains the recognised and rightful candidate of the ADC in Ogun State.
The secretary also dismissed rumors of an internal factional split within the Ogun ADC, asserting that the party remains united and focused on strengthening its structure ahead of 2027. He urged supporters to stay patient, promising that internal issues will soon be resolved.
Agbebiyi expressed confidence that the ADC will overcome its current challenges and remain competitive in the 2027 general election.
