The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) is on the verge of revealing a new title sponsorship agreement ahead of the 2026/27 season, with league chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye confirming that talks have reached their final stage.
Sponsor Deal Details
Speaking to reporters at the Maldron Hotel in Glasgow, Scotland, Elegbeleye said the agreement is expected to be unveiled before the league’s Annual General Meeting on August 7. He stressed that the partnership goes beyond branding, aiming to strengthen the NPFL’s digital presence through influencer collaborations and strategic content creation.
Fan‑Engagement Campaign
The NPFL is also preparing a fresh fan‑engagement initiative featuring some of Nigeria’s leading entertainers. Elegbeleye disclosed that discussions have already taken place and contracts are expected to be signed in the coming days.
He added that the entertainers have pledged to support Nigerian football’s development, attend multiple league matches, and help increase the league’s visibility alongside the new title sponsor and digital campaign.
Dedicated Social Media Department
To further boost its online footprint, the league will establish a dedicated social media department staffed by experienced sports journalists, digital content creators and young media professionals. The unit’s goal is to consistently tell the NPFL story and connect with fans across digital platforms.
Commitment to Season Schedule and Club Licensing
Elegbeleye reiterated the league’s determination to maintain its August‑to‑May calendar, stating that the schedule reflects growing professionalism and aligns with global football standards. He urged all clubs to complete their licensing requirements before the season begins so that no team is left behind.
Reports indicate the proposed title sponsorship is worth more than $7.5 million over three years, which would rank among the biggest commercial deals ever secured by the NPFL.
