Nottingham Forest Confirm Oliver Glasner as New Head Coach
Nottingham Forest have announced the appointment of Oliver Glasner as their new head coach. The Austrian tactician takes over from Vitor Pereira, who was dismissed just two minutes before an exit clause in his contract was set to expire.
Club owner Evangelos Marinakis welcomed the move, describing Glasner as the ideal candidate to lead the team’s long‑term ambitions. Marinakis said, “Oliver is a winner. It was clear that we share the same vision, the same ambition and the same relentless desire to succeed.”
Glasner’s Coaching Pedigree
Glasner, 51, arrives with an impressive résumé. He guided Crystal Palace to their first major trophy by winning the FA Cup in his debut season, followed by success in the Europa Conference League and a Community Shield triumph over Liverpool. Prior to his stint in London, he led Eintracht Frankfurt to Europa League glory in the 2021‑22 campaign, becoming one of only three coaches to have won both the Europa League and the Europa Conference League.
Speaking after his appointment, Glasner highlighted the club’s clear vision as a decisive factor. “From my very first conversations with the owner and the leadership team, it was evident they have a clear vision for this football club and complete trust in me and my staff to build a strong future together,” he said.
Marinakis added that Glasner’s proven ability to build competitive teams and deliver success against top opposition aligns with Forest’s goal of re‑establishing themselves among England’s and Europe’s elite clubs. “Our ambition is not simply to compete – our ambition is to win, to challenge for major honours and to create a football club our supporters can be proud of for many years to come,” he stated.
The appointment marks the fifth managerial change at Nottingham Forest in less than a year, following brief spells by Nuno Espirito Santo, Ange Postecoglou, Sean Dyche and Vitor Pereira. Forest will look to Glasner to provide stability and push for higher finishes in the Premier League.
