NNPP Uploads Placeholder Presidential Candidate for 2027 Elections
The National Leadership of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) confirmed on Tuesday that it has uploaded a placeholder presidential candidate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal for the 2027 general elections.
INEC Recognizes Agbo‑Led National Working Committee
INEC has also recognised the National Working Committee of the party under the leadership of National Chairman Major Agbo. This recognition followed a dispute over the party’s logo and leadership affairs.
Original Party Logo Restored
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Agbo declared that the party’s original “Basket of Fruits on Nigerian Map” logo has been fully restored on the INEC portal, replacing the previously displayed fake version.
He described the development as a confirmation of the NNPP’s legitimate leadership and a warning to politicians who attempt to hijack the party’s identity.
National Assembly Candidates Uploaded
Despite limited time after the leadership recognition, the NNPP Situation Room managed to upload the names of its National Assembly candidates — including placeholders — across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, totalling 355 entries.
Presidential Flag Bearer Placeholder
The party also completed the upload of its presidential flag bearer, which remains a placeholder. Agbo declined to reveal the individual’s name, stating that withholding the identity is a deliberate decision.
Governorship and State Assembly Uploads Underway
Agbo announced that the process of uploading governorship and State House of Assembly candidates has commenced and is progressing smoothly. The exercise is expected to conclude by 8 August 2026, after which substitutions and replacements can be made.
He urged patriotic Nigerians — especially youths, women, professionals, workers, and the diaspora — to join the NNPP in its mission to build a new Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
