A Nigerian woman has stirred online discussion after disclosing that she reported her partner to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) once their relationship ended.
She explained that she first encountered him while in university, a period when he was broke and frequently relied on her for assistance.
She recalled: “When we first met, he had virtually no money. I usually covered his meals, and I even dipped into my savings to purchase a laptop so he could venture into Yahoo, all because I cared for him.”
She noted that the shift began when a friend of his profited from online fraud; despite this, she urged him to give it a go and even financed another laptop for him.
According to her, after he earned his initial $25,000, his demeanor shifted dramatically; he started cheating openly and grew aloof, ignoring everything she had done for him.
Feeling betrayed, she ended the romance and subsequently filed a complaint with the EFCC, which contributed to his downfall.
Online reactions were mixed; some lauded her for uncovering a suspected fraudster, while others contended her move stemmed from heartbreak following their split.
One commenter remarked, “She ought not to have backed Yahoo at all,” while another stated, “Regardless of betrayal, reporting him was excessive.”
Despite the fallout, she insists she harbors no regret and would repeat the action if faced with the same situation.
Her revelation continues to fuel debate online concerning love, betrayal, and responsibility in today’s relationships.
