A Nigerian woman has described an emotional experience she says she endured with an InDrive driver, alleging she was assaulted and embarrassed following a dispute over a ₦600 balance after the driver allegedly refused to take her to her exact destination.
She said she had booked an InDrive trip from Magic Land to Yusuf Damdada Crescent, noting that the driver halted halfway through the crescent, claiming his navigation indicated arrival and requesting she walk the rest of the way to her residence.
In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), the distressed woman recounted: “He arrived at the crescent without inquiring about my home. He simply stated his map had stopped there. I informed him the entire area is the crescent and asked him to drive me to my house. He declined, telling me to exit and walk because it wasn’t distant.”
She claimed the driver locked her inside the car before stepping out to demand payment.
After waiting roughly twenty minutes, she asserted the driver forcibly removed her from the vehicle when she insisted on subtracting ₦600 from the ₦6,100 fare to cover her own transport home.
She further alleged that the driver struck her, seized her bag, and harassed her publicly. She said that several onlookers sided with the driver rather than defending her, arguing she should pay the full amount because “he is a man,” she added.
The woman noted she filed a complaint with InDrive but voiced disappointment with the company’s reply, claiming it offered only an apology without any immediate remedial action.
